May 2nd, that’s right, Tuesday night is the Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen’s May’s General Meeting. The program will be Keith Brintzenhoff on PA Dutch Folklore.

Keith is an expert on Pennsylvania German music, dance, instruments and folklore. He plays a variety of string instruments, tells some of the world’s best stories and jokes, and does lively kid’s shows. He calls and teaches hoedowns, and leads the Toad Creek Ramblers. We look forward to what he has in store for us.

The meeting will start at 7:00 PM at the GoggleWorks in room 238. Double check the board in the lobby to verify the room number.

Opportunity for Members

The Landis Valley Museum Store is looking for new artists, working in the Pennsylvania German tradition! The Museum interprets Pennsylvania German Life and Culture from 1740 to 1940. They offer a consignment contract with a 70/30 split and monthly payouts. You retain full ownership of your property and are welcome to take it out of the store whenever you need. While they prefer a consignment arrangement, they are open to wholesale or a combination of consignment and wholesale.

They are also looking for instructors for their popular introductory craft workshops. Due to some recent requests, they are looking for instructors in Redware, Fraktur and Scherenschnitte, but will consider any traditional craft. Please contact Museum Store Manager, Terry Kreider ctkreider@pa.gov to arrange an appointment or for more information.
