February 7, 2017, 7 PM at the GoggleWorks: We will be taking another trip to Key West with the Ballantyne’s. A new topic requested by members….Can you guess what it is?

March’s program will feature Glen Wenrich on Canal history and lore. April’s program will be our newly juried members presentations of their crafts.

We are sorry to inform everyone of Anita Geiger’s passing on November 22. She was a long time member of the Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen as well as an active member of her church. She was a well respected teacher and coach in our area. She will be missed by family, students and fellow craftsmen.

Education:
Stanley G. Seltz Student Awards Program
The awards ceremony for the 2017 BCIU Secondary Art & Craft Exhibit will be held at the GoggleWorks on Sunday, March 5, 2017.

The exhibit will be on display at the GoggleWorks from February 25 – March 12, 2017. Gallery hours everyday from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

BCTV:
February’s show will feature Marilyn Diener and her traditional scherenschnitte. “Scherenschnitte” is the German word for scissor-cutting.

In March, Kay will be interviewing Terry Boyer and a selection of our craftsmen who will be exhibiting and selling their work at the Spring Festival. April will be the filming of the BCIU exhibit and winners.
Opportunities for our members:

Get Juried! Our next jury session is Tues. March 7th. This will be the first time our Guild will be jurying Fine Art.

The Standards Committee will meet on Tues, March 7, 7:00 pm at the Goggleworks. Members who have belonged to our chapter for a minimum of 3 months are eligible to present their work for jurying. The room will be open at 6:30, and jurying will begin at 7:00. Check the board at the entrance of the Goggleworks for the room #. Members will be asked to leave before jurying begins, and can return in 1- 1 1/2 hours for the results. Any Standards Committee member who can’t attend, please let Louise know. Sarah Drennen,the curator at Rock Ford Plantation http://rockfordplantation.org/ would like to invite our members to a May Fair Celebration on the Rock Ford Plantation grounds, which cover 33 acres on Sunday, May 21, 10am-3pm. There is no No fee to be part of this celebration. Please bring your own table(s), chair(s), pop-up tents, etc. You may simply advertise, and/or sell your crafts/goods.
