Tin by The Gillaspys

You don't have to be a kid to enjoy tin toys, especially the ones made by Mary and Dawson Gillaspy. In fact they make their pieces with grown ups in mind. They appeal to the child that exists in varying degrees below the surface in all of us.

Their toys vary in size, but most are 7"-9" long and about 5"-6" high and are handmade without the use of any power tools or automatic equipment. They roll on wheels, rock, spin, ring or make music---all without batteries or electricity. The toys are reminiscent of those made in the 19th century in Europe and America.

Mary and Dawson are now retired and their work is no longer available.
