Officer Elections are coming

October 4th is your chance to throw your hat in the ring for an officer position on Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen’s board.   You must be a member in good standing i.e. have paid your dues and be willing to fulfill the duties of the position you are running for.    Our nomination committee (Bob Ballantyne, Ray Oxenford, and Bill Scheirer) has submitted the below names to be presented at the October 4th meeting and will open the floor for nominations.   The nominations from the October meeting will be voted on at the November 1 meeting.  Be sure to make your voice heard by attending both meetings.

Fine Art approved for Jury Process

The standards committee voted to approve Fine Art as a category for Reading-Berks Chapter jurying.   The PA Guild of Craftsmen has been jurying Fine Art for several years.

Holiday Festival

Our 67th Annual Holiday Festival will be October 29th and 30th.   Make sure you get your applications in NOW.    Even if you aren’t doing the festival, make sure that you come to the festival and tell all your friends about it.  Word of mouth and social media are our best advertisement.  Print some $1 off coupons for your friends.  Shows are always free to members.

Silent Auction

Silent Auction of a “Last of its Kind” Hooked Rug by Annie Harlin is the highlight of our 67th Annual Holiday Festival.  Annie is a juried lifetime member of not only Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen, but also of the Pennsylvania State Guild of Craftsmen. Annie is a well-known artist in Pennsylvania and because of her love for this area and her Guild, has created this last hooked rug for us.  The silent auction will be on Saturday, October 29  and will benefit The Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen and their ongoing educational programs of the chapter.  Bidding will end at 4:30 PM, you (or a representative) must be present  to win.   Cash or check will be accepted as payment.

Fabric Donated

Fabric has been donated to the chapter and will be available to members on a first come, first serve basis. Some of the fabric will be available at the October 4th general meeting.  The rest will be available at the Holiday Festival on October 29th & 30th;  please see one of the show committee members to find out where to look at the fabric.

Holiday Social

The holiday social will be held Tuesday, December 6th at the Yellow House Hotel. Drinks will be served in the bar at 6 PM (cash bar) and dinner will begin promptly at 6:30 PM. Entertainment will be provided by Butch Inhofe. The GPS address is: 6743 Boyertown Pike, Douglassville, PA 19518

Dinner includes, Italian Wedding soup, Tossed Salad, Stuffed Baked Potato, Vegetable du jour and Dessert (Apple Pie with Ice Cream). Tax and Tip will be paid for by the guild.

  • Seafood Sizzler
  • Chicken Picatta
  • Vegetarian

Back by popular demand:  Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen totes.   Only $1 each donation.   A reasonable price for a nice bag to give your customers for larger purchases or to use for your own shopping.   These totes will be available at all Chapter meetings and events until they are gone.
