June 2015 News Update

PICNIC
Our Annual Picnic is Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 6 PM (rain or Shine) at Gring’s Mill, 2083 Tulpehocken Road, Reading, PA 19610. Be sure to bring either your favorite picnic dish or dessert. While not necessary, we would like a rough number on number of people attending. Please please drop Matt Vardjan, an email (see email blast for address) if you plan to attend and have not already let him know. Open to members, guests and prospective members.

BCTV:
Kay Bennecoff (Your Berks Craftsmen Host) will be accepting donations for the BCTV Octoberfest Auction at the Guild Picnic. Remember, if you get your donation in early, items will be posted on BCTV’s website. Thanks!

NO Meeting in July
There will not be a meeting in July. However, many of our members will be demonstrating and selling their work at the Kutztown Folk Festival. Please join them at this traditional event for Berks County.

Engaged
Tammy Zettlemoyer and Steve Lubanovic are engaged and will be getting married in June. Stop by and give your congratulations to the happy couple couple at the Kutztown Folk Festival.

Congratulations
Wilfriede Axsmith won 2nd place at the Senior Art Festival in Reading. The category that she won in is mixed media. The silkpainting is titled: Suddenly Summer. The exibition is at the Miller center until June 7th.

Holly Gage of Bowmansville, PA wins the Internationally Acclaimed Saul Bell Design Award in jewelry for “Je’taime, – Dual Flame.” The Fine Silver necklace won in the Metal Clay category, which was one of 6 competitive categories. Gage’s piece tells the story of blossoming love as two dancers gracefully emerge from a flower blossom in the final pose of their dance. From hundreds of designs from over 20 countries around the world the Saul Bell Design Award is considered the premier jewelry award for exceptional design.

Standards
The next jury session is scheduled for Tues, September 8 at the Goggleworks. Members who have belonged to our chapter for a minimum of 3 months are eligible to present their work for jurying.
