President’s Message:
Looking at all the leaves on the ground and the bit of briskness in the morning air and of course, the date on the calendar, Fall is here. Let’s remember to enjoy this beautiful time of year with our families and our friends. I would so enjoy seeing you at our general meeting on October 6 in person but we know that cannot happen during this time of Covid; but you can join in this meeting by using Zoom. Last month was our first general meeting by Zoom and we had several members join the meeting. It was good because some of these members don’t usually come to our general meetings and they were able to come via Zoom. So please join us if you can.
Trying to cope with Covid 19 has been a challenge for everyone. Your Board has been trying to think of ways we can help. We are actually working on a way to try and have a “program” for our next zoom meeting in November. Matt is working on that and he also informed us that, as of now, we are still on for our Holiday Social at Yellow House. They will not be able to accommodate us for any “take-out” meals but let’s keep our fingers crossed that we can really get together in December. I am going to stop my message here and encourage you to read the rest of this newsletter. It is packed with some good and important information for our craftsmen and artists.
Everyone, stay well; stay safe, until we can be together again.
“The aim of education should be to teach us how to think rather than what to think.” James Beattie.
Your President, Barry L. Bennecoff

Pop-Up Shows at Renninger’s Farmers’ Market:
Last year we did our first pop-up show at Renninger’s Farmers’ Market on “First Saturday” in December, Santa’s Secret Shoppe. We are going to do it again on Saturday, December 5, 2020 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Social distancing and mask wearing is required. We are hoping to do more Pop-up shows “First Saturday’s” in February, March, and April 2021. This is a small show and Pop-Up shows are casual. Information is on the application. (Application is on our website at rbcrafs.org.)
Any questions about Santa’s Secret Shoppe, call 610-374-7048.
Sell Your Work on Facebook:
Our chapter is considering setting up a group on Facebook for selling your work. You would need a Facebook page, and be able to upload your own photos. Every craftsman would handle all details of the sale themselves. Before we pursue this further, we need to know if there is enough interest. If you might be interested, email Louise at eglassplace@gmail.com.

Please verify your information in the Directory:
A letter was sent to our customers indicating that our 2020 Holiday show was canceled. We also indicated that they could find their favorite craftsman or artist by going to our Directory. Please review your information and make sure your name, craft, website or facebook page are all correct. A link to that letter is: https://mailchi.mp/946754cea15c/whats-happening-at-reading-berks-guild-of-craftsmen
If you have corrections, please send to info@rbcrafts.org.

Programs:
Hi everyone. With all the upheaval brought about with the Covid situation our normal programs have been difficult to bring before our membership. Our October general meeting will be a “zoom” meeting once again and will most likely be that way for the foreseeable future. That being said, I am asking anyone “zooming into the October meeting to do an “old fashion” show and tell. Have one or two pieces of your current crafting. I’ll try to coordinate this during the meeting. Each of us presenting an item need to keep it shortened sweet so as not to drag out the program portion of our meeting. Give it a try! It all helps us stay connected and see what we have been up-to while staying at home.
Our Holiday Social is at Yellow House Hotel. Details, including prices, and sign-up sheet are on the Holiday Social Page . The cash bar opens at 6:00 PM, the meal will be served promptly at 6:30. Butch Imhoff will be entertaining us after dessert with his holiday songs and good humor! I hope to see all of our members at the Social.
See you on the Zoom meeting!
Programs Chair, Matt Vardjan
