August 2021 Newsletter

We’re Back! at The Goggleworks for our general meetings starting August 3 and I can’t wait to see everyone.  At 7:00 PM, we will have a “meet-and-greet” with our fellow craftsmen and friends.  Our invited guest speaker will be Heather Adams, Executive Director of BCTV and a great friend of our Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen.  She will be sharing some very exciting news of what is happening at BCTV.  AND Erika Juran,  Executive Director of our Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen is going to come to our meeting on August 3.  I am sure we can get her to talk  about the recent PA Guild show that is happening the weekend of July 31 and August 1 at the Chase Center in Delaware.  Following our “meet-and-greet”, we will have our business meeting and bring you up to date on our 71st Holiday Fine Art and Craft Festival that will take place on November 6 and November 7 at Kutztown University.  Applications are on our website at rbcrafts.org.

If you missed “Your Berks Craftsmen” on July 21, please be sure to tune in by going to our website rbcrafts.org or by going to BCTV’s website, bctv.org and you will join me in meeting and talking with the new director of The Kutztown Folk Festival, Heather Zimmerman.  She had so much information about the 72nd  Kutztown Folk Festival that is happening in Kutztown, PA beginning October 13, 2021 through October 25, 2021.  Yes, you heard me correctly.  The Kutztown Folk Festival is back “live” and it was just too long to wait till 2022; so a “Fall Fest on Main” is happening and you won’t want to miss it.  The Kutztown Folk Festival dates for 2022 are July 2 through July 10, 2022.  Go to KutztownFestival.com to keep up with all the exciting events.

The next jury session is scheduled for Tues, Sept 14, 2021 at the Goggleworks. Members who have belonged to our chapter for a minimum of 3 months are eligible to present their work for jurying. The room will be open at 6:30, and jurying will begin at 7:00. Members will be asked to leave before jurying begins, and can return in 1- 1 1/2 hours for the results. BCTV, a great friend of our Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen, is having their Octoberfest Auction on October 28, 2021.  Our members have done an amazing job in past years by supporting BCTV’s Octoberfest Auction with beautiful hand-crafted items for the auction.  You can bring your donated item to our general meetings from now through October 2021 and I will get them to BCTV for you.  Let’s help make this the best Octoberfest Auction BCTV has ever had.
