President’s Message:

It is again my great pleasure to be able to say to our Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen Family, “Happy New Year” as we welcome in 2022.  I am grateful for all of your support that you have shown to me and our Board and our Show committee during 2021.  Our Board of Directors and our Show Committee are diligent workers and always work for the “good of the Guild”.  I read recently that a new year is like a new book.  So, I say let’s make 2022 make the New York Time’s Best Seller List.  All our meetings are scheduled for 2022 at the GoggleWorks this year.   Our program chairperson Matt Vardjan does a great job setting up  programs of interest for our members.  If you are thinking about getting more involved with your Reading-Berks Guild, do it.  We will be glad you did.  And speaking of doing it, unlock the door to your studio because our show chairperson Steve Hunter will be telling you about what’s happening in Spring!

Don’t forget to watch your mailboxes for your membership renewals sent out by our State Guild.

Make your life a masterpiece; imagine no limitations on what you can be, have, or do.”  Brian Tracy

Your President,  Barry L. Bennecoff

Shows:

As the end of the year closes in on us, it’s time to think about selling opportunities. Many have reported strong sales at shows this fall. This was true at our show at Kutztown University.  Let’s ride this wave through spring.

Our second year Spring outdoor show application is now on our web site. This outdoor show under the roof at Renningers was well received last year, most enjoyed strong sales. This is an easy show to do with parking at your booth, low fee, short hours, and coffee and doughnuts. We have room to grow this show.  Join us.

Show Chair,  Steve Hunter

I am so excited for our upcoming shows in 2022.  The new studio at 401 Penn Street in Reading is AWESOME.  It is the perfect stage for you our craftsmen to show the world what you do.  You get to share with the viewing audience not only your craft but a little bit about yourself and how you got interested in your craft or art.  Join us on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 7:00 PM and you will meet Heather Zimmerman, director of the Kutztown Folk Festival.  Kutztown Folk Festival starts July 2, 2022, and runs through July 10, 2022, live and in-person.  Many of our juried Reading-Berks craftsmen participate in this festival and are so looking forward to seeing you there.

So, don’t be shy, you and your juried craft are the next “Stars” of “Your Berks Craftsmen”.

“Your Berks Craftsmen” Host,
Kay Bennecoff

Programs:

Our program in January will be a participation program. We will be sorting the door prize tickets. This helps our guild keep a current mailing list for our shows. The more hands the better! Bring your Holiday stories to share with the other members, maybe leftover cookies. It’s a fun evening as well as an important job! See you at the meeting!

Program Chair,  Matt Vardjan
