President’s Message:

Ahhhh!  Warm weather has finally arrived.  What a blessing that we won’t be getting a heating bill for several months.  Our Guild picnic is right around the corner and I can hardly wait!.  Matt, Nancy, and Elaine open their home and hearts to us on this special evening.  It is a beautiful ride to the Oley Valley and there is plenty of friendship, laughter and food for all.

Thank you to all our craftsmen and artists and patrons who came out to our Spring Show in the pouring rain.  I am keeping my fingers crossed until next “First Saturday in May” because I have been told that third time is the charm!   AND SPEAKING OF SHOWS, the deadline for the discount for our 72nd Holiday Fine Art and Craft Festival is July 4, 2022.

I am very pleased to say that the Kutztown Folk Festival is coming together very nicely.  While some of our craftsmen have retired from doing the Festival, several other of our members have signed on.  The excitement of the return of the Festival is exhilarating and felt by everyone.  Hope to see a lot of you there.   We have no general meeting in July so make sure you do something special.   Have a great time with family and friends by doing something you haven’t been able to do for a while….have a picnic, go on vacation, take a nature walk, go swimming, go fishing, go skydiving and then come to our meeting in August and we will fill you in on what your Reading-Berks Guild has in store for you.   Better yet, come to the meeting and share with your friends what you have been up to.   And we will be sharing with you the excitement of our Fall Schedule.  Until we are together again, stay safe, and make it a good day!!

It is my principle that the will of majority should always prevail.” —— Thomas Jefferson

Your President,  Barry L. Bennecoff

On Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 7:00 PM you will want to be in front of your TV or computer, tuning in of course to “Your Berks Craftsmen”.  This segment will re-introduce you to Heather Zimmerman, director of the Kutztown Folk Festival and she will be bringing several guests  with her who are going to share what will be happening this year at the Festival which will be opening  on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at 9:00 AM.  Heather and the gang are so excited to be back “live” this year.  Everything old is new again and you won’t be disappointed.  Whatever you have been missing, it will be back.  And with several new additions to the Festival this year, well, you will just want to come back again and again. And you can!  The Festival runs from July 2 through July 10.  The Festival is great family fun and you will find many juried members of our Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen participating in this year’s event.  “Your Berks Craftsmen” is on Comcast, Channel 15.  Don’t have Comcast, watch on your computer by going  to BCTV.org or watch it the next day on our website, rbcrafts.org.  We are on “YouTube” also.  See you at the Festival……I’ll be eatin’ till I ouch!  I love that funnel cake!
