President’s Message:

It’s that time again to get back to our monthly general meetings. Hope to see you all at our meeting on Tuesday, August 7 at 7:00 PM.  At our most recent Board of Directors’ meeting we discussed and voted on having our November general meeting at our Holiday Festival on Sunday, November 4 at 9:00 AM.  This is an important meeting because we will be voting for our new officers for the 2019-2020 term.  Please let any member of our board know if you are interested in being on the ballot.  A nominating committee will be appointed soon and opportunity will be knocking at your door.  Your Guild needs you!  We are very excited about our upcoming season.  The show committee has been putting much energy into the planning for our 69th annual Holiday Fine Arts and Crafts Festival.  Exciting new advertising is in the works and I mean it is exciting.  So make sure you get your application in right away to be part of this Festival.  Come to the meeting and hear what the excitement is all about!

To succeed in life, you need three things:  a wish bone, a back bone and a funny bone.”  Reba McEntire

Holiday Show:

Hello Everyone,

I hope your Summer is going well.  Grass is growing too fast, flower beds need to be weeded and so much more. Is there time for building inventory?

The Show Committee is working very hard on the Holiday Show for Nov. 3rd and 4th, 2018.  We have revamped the Advertising program to draw more people to our show.  Billboards, TV ads on Comcast, Facebook, Newspapers and branding our Guilds Logo, and still looking for ideas.

The show committee is striving to make our show your best show.

The new Rack cards are in and Barry has a supply with him at all events he attends. You can get yours by calling Carol Haile and at our August, September or October meetings.

This is a call for you to get new digital photos to Bill Jones, webmaster@rbcrafts.org so he can use them in advertising for the Guilds Website.  These may also be used for for the TV ads. Please do this ASAP.

Get your applications in early.

Thank you so very much,
Terry & Judy Boyer

The most recent edition of “Your Berks Craftsmen featured Gary Rosborough, a traditional carver and  one of our new members who joined the show committee for our Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen. Gary brought several pieces of his work into the studio and gave the audience some pointers on carving.  Thanks Gary, it was a great show.

In August, I will be talking with Jeff Fiant and several of our guild members who will be doing a traditional show at Jeff’s church in the month of October.  It is always a great show when we fill the studio with several craftsmen.

AND speaking of filling the BCTV studio, our September show will be highlighting the Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen’s  69th Annual Holiday Fine Arts and Crafts Festival that will be held at Kutztown University on November 3 and November 4, 2018.  Terry and Judy Boyer, co-chairpersons of this great event will be in attendance along with several craftsmen who will be selling their newest creations at this festival for your shopping pleasure.

AND speaking of shopping—BCTV’s Octoberfest is just around the corner.  Calling all Reading-Berks craftsmen, please donate one of your crafts for this great auction.  All benefits go to BCTV.  BCTV is a great friend to our Reading-Berks Guild.  Friends helping friends—that is what it is all about.  You can drop off your donation at the studio or bring it to our meetings and I will take it there for you.  Thanks again for all your help in the past and I along with all your help hope to make it a big year for BCTV.

Your BCTV host,  Kay Bennecoff
